Course Blog

Blogs can be a good way to communicate with your class. Blogs can be used for things like class assignments, schedules, announcements, reminders, and for so many other things. It can also be a good way to have discussions with the entire class. The instructor can put a discussion post and then have all the students post a comment. Plus it gives students to have fun with it because blogs are fun and interactive.

Why son of a sheperd?

Ever since I created my blog people have been asking me(by people I mean basically just me) "why did you decide to name it son of a sheperd?" Well the inspiration came from a show on cartoon network called ed, edd, and eddy.
There's a character called Rolf, a foreigner, and he refers to himself as the son of a sheperd. I don't know why something so obscure stuck with me for so many years, but I guess some things just do. I guess it takes me back to a time when I was younger and I didn't have as many responsibilities. Nowadays I gotta worry about things like groceries, gas prices, rent, utility payments, work, school, etc. When you're younger you don't worry about these things. You wake up and assume that food will just be there ready to eat. It makes me appreciate even more the things that my parents did for me. We may not have been rich but they sure made me feel like I was. If I wanted some cap'n crunch there it was. Now I gotta buy it myself and cereal is expensive! Lower the goddamn cereal prices already.

Where was I going with this again? Oh yeah the name of my blog, son of a sheperd, was inspired by this guy.

Movie Review: Looper

Second best movie of the year! The only reason I say second is because The Dark Knight Rises came out in the same year. A very close second at that.

Spoiler Alert! Read with CAUTION
"The year is 2044 time machines haven't been invented yet, but thirty years from now they will have." The story follows Joe, played by JGL, who is an assassin(looper) hired by the mob. The mob itself is 30 years into the future where time travel exists but immediately made illegal and where bodies cannot easily be disposed of. The mob's targets are transported 30 years into the past where Loopers are there to kill them and dispose of them. Loopers sign a thirty year contract and when those thirty years are up their loop has to be closed. How do they close the loop? The person they will have to kill will be their future self, but they do get a huge lump sum of money for their service. Joe encounters a problem when his future self is sent to him and he escapes. Now he has to find his future self or else the mob will kill Joe(JGL).

Last Saturday I went to watch this movie with high expectations because I had heard and read so much about it and those expectations were surpassed. I've seen my fair share of movies about time travel and bleak future but this is by far one of the better ones. This movie star JGL, who in his short career has already been in a lot of great movies i.e. Inception, DKR, 500 days, Brick, 50/50, and The Lookout. Who knew that the weird kid with the long hair from 3rd rock would grow up to become a big movie star? Bruce Willis has been in many action movies so this was a good fit for him. I know it is all very confusing and my description probably confuses you even more but trust me if you watch it you'll understand it and you'll love it, just like I did.
- I give this movie 5/5

U.S. Soccer Woes

I remember creating a Blogger account like three years ago, but I never got around to publishing any posts and it was mostly because I could never think of anything significant to write about. The only reason I am blogging right now is because it's a homework assignment. So when I sat down to write this I asked myself "what the hell do i write?" and then I said to myself "anything, it doesn't matter!" I mean why am I overthinking it? I could literally right anything. urhgur rguhruguie slrhgingfkjnjgfng. See...anything. But I guess I should write about things that matter to me. I love many things: basketball, television, reading, carl's jr, coffee, family, friends, snicker bars. But since it is recent I decided to talk about Soccer, and more specifically U.S. Mens soccer. The U.S. played against some country called Antigua and Barbuda and I mean this should have been easy pickings. But instead they decided, like they always do, to make it hard on themselves. It was tough to watch and see how much they were struggling against this little island. I know Lando and Fabian Johnson were out with injuries, but that's no excuse to wait until the 90th minute to get the winner. I know Lando is a great player but a team shouldn't just be dependent on one or two players. I know the world cup is still two years away but I honestly can't picture the United States getting any further in the tournament than they did 2 years ago when they were knocked out in the second round. With that said, I do think the team can get better and ultimately we will qualify for the world cup. The thing that frustrates me is that I don't yet see this as a team that can move on to a quarterfinal spot, but I do hope I am wrong.

This post is dedicated to my homeboy eddy who has been begging me to write something on my blog for the last three years.
